MISSION AND VISION

 

RURAL DEVELOPMENT  DEPARTMENT

Rural Development is the primary Department working for the reduction of rural poverty in Mizoram. It implies both the economic betterment of people as well as greater social transformation. The Department is implementing a number of programmes in rural areas through the State Government for poverty reduction, employment generation, rural infrastructure and provision of basic minimum services.

VISION

To improve the socio economic conditions of the rural community and to uplift the people living below the poverty.

MISSION

Providing wage employment, self employment through income generating activities and also to create permanent assets for strengthening the rural infrastructure. Most of the programmes implemented by the Department are meant for poverty alleviation, Capacity building, reduction of unemployment or to give additional employment to people living in rural areas in order to enhance their livelihood security.

BUSINESS TRANSACTED

The rural Development Block, E.Lungdar deals with various programmes and schemes for the benefit of the people in this area, following are the business being transacted under RD Block E.Lungdar:-

  • MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme)
  • IAY (Indira Gandhi Awaaz Yojana)
  • BADP (Border Area Development Programme)
  • NRLM (National Rural Livelihoods Mission)
  • IWMP (Integrated Watershed Management Programme)

 

ORGANIZATIONAL SET UP OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

The workers under RD Department are broadly divided into five main blocks each assigned their own specific tasks for the successful implementation of different RD schemes and programmes. Listed under are the organizational sets up of the Department:

  • Administrative Department (Secretariat)
  • Directorate
  • District Rural Development Agency (DRDA)
  • State Level Monitoring Cell and Internal Audit Cell (SLMC & IAC)
  • State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD)

 

RURAL DEVELOPMENT BLOCK

Under the Directorate comes the Rural Development Block. Presently, there are 26 RD Blocks in Mizoram. To ensure an integrated Rural Development programme, Block Office is set up in each Rural Development Blocks headed by the Block Development Officer (BDO). The Block Office staffs are the grass root workers in the schemes undertaken by the Department along with the other CSS undertaken by RD Department.
