B.Vanlalzarzokima, Mrs. Khualkungi, Mrs. Kapchhingi and  Lalhruaii  are also farmers in Bawktlang Village under E.Lungdar R.D Block, They are growing various horticulture plants like orange, ginger etc in their garden, which requires water and fertilizer, Since they are not in a position to construct farm pond by their own which is a necessity for their plantation, They received an assistance under IWMP Serchhip III for farm pond construction, They are very glad to have been blessed with such assistance from Government project.

Construction of fish pond for Mr.R.Lalvuana, Bawktlang has been done under IWMP Serchhip III, Watershed Work. The fish farmers under IWMP were provided with 10,000 fingerlings. The fish reared in the ponds are either consumed or sold.

Mrs. Lalngeni, a widow living in Mualcheng village was assisted for ploughing terrace in her one and a half acres of land under IWMP Serchhip III, Watershed Works. She will be cultivating orange in her terrace and will be provided orange saplings and fertilizers. Works which cannot be undertaken by the poor alone had been made possible by IWMP.

Mr. Lalrinawma was selected by the W.C., Chekawn as a beneficiary under IWMP Serchhip III, Watershed work for the Ploughing of terrace and construction of fish pond. The terrace was ploughed for cultivation of orange. Mr. Lalrinawma’s family was given 10,000 fingerlings for their fish farming. It has not only benefitted them in meeting their consumption needs but also helped them in earning profit from selling of their fish.

Mr. Lalsangliana of Mualcheng village was also assisted from IWMP for ploughing of terrace in his one and a half acres of land where he is presently growing rice. In jhuming cultivation production is less, but in terrace farming production is much higher, the family felt priviledged to get assistance from IWMP because it had made their work meaningful.

Mr.Kapkima, Chekawn had his terrace ploughed under IWMP Serchhip III, Watershed works. He was selected by the W.C.,Chekawn as the beneficiary under the Program. He had his two acres of land ploughed which was utilized for rice cultivation. The farmers in IWMP will be further assisted by providing fertilizers in order to increase their farm products.

Pu Vungkawla of Chekawn Village has earned his living by cultivation and by practicing Pisciculture he is also a beneficiary of N LUP (flagship programme of Mizoram, Congress party).From assistance he received from Serchhip III, he extended his fish pond and this increased his income by more than 1 lakh a year. The owner of the pond said that there were about 10000 fishes thriving in the pond at present and they plan to make nursery/seedlings plant as well.

Pu Tlangthangliana of khawlailung village had constructed Dry terrace from watershed works, IWMP Serchhip III 2011-2012 , His terrace construction helps him to get  better production of his horticulture and agriculture plantation he is practicing right now, earlier typical jhumming cultivation was practiced by the farmer, but this dry terrace construction is now helping him to utilize his land more useful and productive. He cultivates Cabbage during winter and Paddy during Summer.

                Tlanghmingthanga also developed his barren land from assistance he received from IWMP, he cultivated winter horticulture crops last year and is preparing to cultivate other horticulture crops.

Farm pond was constructed in Pu Ramnunmawia’s garden for horticulture activities, Presently, He is planting Sugarcane in his garden and he utilizes this farm pond for his plantation. He collects rain water from the roof top of his farm house thereby utilizing the water for his plantation and his Traditional jaggery small scale industry at his Garden. He earned his living by processing sugarcane in his garden.

Harvesting of rain water is a neccessity for rural agriculture. IWMP Serchhip III, Watershed works had made the wish of many farmers come true by constructing farm pond in their farms, doubling their products. It had helped the farmers to save the water that will go to waste if it had not been harvested.

 In North Vanlaiphai village, Mr. TC Zosangliana, Mr. Lalthanmawia Sailo and Mr. TC Zoremmawia had farm ponds constructed in their paddy fields, serving a meaningful purpose in their livelihoods.

          IWMP Serchhip III project benefits Pu J.N Laltlankima Khawlailung Village by giving assistance for his terrace construction, he is now preparing enthusiastically for better yielding and successful cultivation. Earlier the land was not utilized for any plantations, however, after constructing terraces and developing his land he is now planting 400 orange seedlings, 50 no of Sandal wood seedlings and 20 no of monkey cry seedlings.

TC Zoremmawia  is  also blessed with Farm pond construction at his garden where they plant oranges ; due to Scarcity of water the farmers encounter problems in their farming activities. However, with this assistance one of their problem is now resolved.

                Pu Hmangaihkima of Chekawn Village has practiced paddy cultivation, cost of   land development work was contributed from IWMP, he started his cultivation since long time back and was a beneficiary of earlier scheme IWDP, and he was also assisted by Agriculture department. Moreover, The approach road for his cultivation was constructed from MGNREGS by Job card holder in  Chekawn. This is a successful example for convergence of various schemes under Rural development Department and other Department.

Pu Chhuankima of Chekawn Village has started Wet rice Cultivation from assistance he received from IWMP and assistance he received earlier from agriculture department; He ploughs his land for Rice cultivation and is expected to increase his yielding by two folds this coming year in addition to his production last year. he yielded 10 quintals of rice last year and he is expecting to harvest 5 quintals coming  this year.

Vanlalhriati of chekawn Village , who is also IAY beneficiary is a widow struggling by herself to support her two daughters, She has tea stall at chekawn and could earn some money from her petty trade however, to increase her income, She wants to initiate pisiculture, Watershed committee of chekawn village has recommended her to receive assitance from IWMP watershed works, and to develop her land which has a potential for Pisciculture considering availability of natural water resources around her land, She put 500 fingerlings in her pond and 300 of them are surviving, she is now enthusiastically waiting for the increase production of her land.

 Moreover,  being a user member, she volunteer herself for collection of usercharge of toilet constructed from Entry Point Activity which is situated near her tea stall, the usercharges collected faithfully by her has been deposited in Watershed Development Account of Chekawn Watershed ( Lower Tuichang XI).

Pu Biakmawia has been practicing Wet rice Cultivation earlier, to increase his yielding he extended his paddy cultivation in another plot of land, from his yielding he harvests sufficient amount of rice for his family and is not necessarily depending on Public Distribution System anymore, He  performs intensive cultivation at his WRC by putting fishes in the rice field,   which increase and fertilizes the land furthermore.

Pu Dohnuna develops his land by constructing Terraces, since there is no water, he plants his paddy in dry terraces, However, he manages his land by applying his own method, in which he laid straws on the terrace after harvesting his paddy and then burned the straw to fertilize the land, He tried to prove that he could yield the same amount of harvest as he used to harvest while he practiced Shifting Cultivation.  He is now transforming his method of cultivation from shifting cultivation to permanent and sustainable cultivation.
